Restrooms, Restrooms, Restrooms

The original Fox bathroom plan was somewhat under-sized for the capacity of the theatre. There were 16 stalls for 1,316 people. Also, the theatre’s restrooms were located on either the basement level or second floor. In order to better serve the new patrons of the Fox, restrooms were designed for all three levels of the theatre, in the newly added structure to the west, 27 Congress. The building’s restrooms now number 24 stalls. By placing the restrooms in the newly added floor-space of 27 West Congress, we avoided having to alter the original floor-plan to add the new bathrooms. In addition, instead of rehabbing old plumbing, we built all new lines which was more economical. The largest challenge we faced was that the original sewer line that the Fox had been hooked up to, had been abandoned by Pima County in the mid 1980’s. The new line did not work according to the Fox’s civil engineer and plumbers, so both the Fox and the County needed to rehabilitate the old line for use by the Fox.
